Radio Frequency, or simply “RF,” microneedling is a procedure that uses insulated needles which deliver high-intensity radio frequency energy into the skin. This serves to warm the deep tissues, stimulating new collagen growth to create a firmer, more youthful appearance.
RF microneedling is a suitable treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, or enlarged pores. It can also help to tighten sagging or loose skin.
The RF Microneedling Procedure
The HydraFacial® is a medical-grade skincare treatment that uses patented hydradermabrasion technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate skin with the best in active ingredients. A step above traditional facials, this option incorporates a light peel and both physical and chemical exfoliation for clear, soft skin.
Prior to RF microneedling, a topical numbing cream will be applied. The procedure takes no more than an hour, and is typically repeated through approximately 2-4 treatment sessions to ensure best results.
After the procedure, some patients experience mild bleeding and bruising. The skin is usually red for about 24 hours, and may feel warm. Some patients describe a sunburn-like sensation after receiving microneedling treatments. However, patients can return to normal activities within a day of receiving the treatment.
Final results are noticeable between three and six months after the procedure, allowing for the skin to continue producing new collagen.
RF Microneedling and PRP
The RF Microneedling procedure is often combined with PRP treatments. As the microneedles create tiny wounds in the skin, the platelet-rich plasma is better able to penetrate deep into the tissue. These treatments work well together to reduce wrinkles, skin laxity, and other concerns. Ask Dr. Sabour about combining a PRP treatment with your Microneedling procedure.
